It’s Taken 4 Months to Process THIS…

It has taken me nearly 4 months to process what happened back in January enough to share it publicly.

On January 3rd, after 12 years of providing music therapy on the pediatric floor at St. John’s Hospital, I received a phone call that started with, “I have HR on the line”.  My heart sank. The next thing I heard was that my music therapy “position is being terminated effective immediately.”

I was absolutely stunned.  We had just wrapped up another incredible Radiothon donor drive in November.  I was supposed to go in the next day.  I had told patients I would come see them.  All of my belongings were in my office.

There was no opportunity for goodbye or to establish closure on a therapeutic level with any of the families I had been working with.  There was no opportunity to formulate a transition of care or provide resources. There wasn’t an opportunity to tell them I wasn’t simply abandoning them.  My heart broke simply wanting to tell them all, “you’ve got this” one more time.

It took over three months to be able to share all of this because I remain grateful.  That position did so much for me.  The thousands of families and patients I’ve seen and had the honor of working with have taught me so much over the last 12 years.  They challenged me daily and helped me in more ways than I could possibly express.

They taught me that the one thing we are all seeking is love and care.

They taught me that everyone needs someone to listen or hold their hand.

They taught me about resilience and about grit.

They taught me to think on my feet and be creative.

They taught me that being myself is the way I can best help others.

They helped build my skill set and confidence in such a way that it is helping me pivot into this next chapter. And I will be forever grateful. I cherish every memory I have.

To anyone asking, what’s next?!? What have you been doing!?!

The answer: THIS

I’m focusing on building my coaching practice.  I provide 1:1, group, and workplace coaching/speaking focused on building a happier, healthier life.  I provide business coaching, life coaching, a listening ear, mentoring, brand collaboration, custom songwriting, and more.

This week, I am doing a 7-part free video series on Instagram. I’ll be talking about mantras and how shifting your language can change your life.  This series is especially important to me as it includes the words and tools I personally have needed and used over the past 3 months.

Right now, the workbook for that series is free on my sales pages AND I am offering 10 free consultation calls through the end of the month.

If you’re curious where I’ve been, want to work with me, OR want the free workbook, check out everything I’m offering. https://www.kateykratz.com/.

(And OF COURSE I’m still the co-owner of Music Therapy Connections and am onstage with Captain Geech nearly every weekend)

To all of my former patients, their families, and my colleagues,
You’ve got this!!

With Love,
Katey
