I’m Going Camping!! (and in style)
I LOVE camping and am so excited to kick off this spring season.
This Sunday, I’m going camping for the first time this year!!!! And man am I excited!! I mean, I’m so excited that I’m dedicating an entire post to planning this experience!
In my last post I shared the 5 Things I’m Inviting More of in 2024. Going camping is one way I’m living that initiative and bringing those things more into my world.
This trip is definitely camping with a purpose. My partner and I are headed to watch the solar eclipse in totality on Monday. While we had been talking about wanting to travel for the eclipse for a bit, we didn’t really nail down the details until the past couple weeks.
That’s where Hip Camp really came in and saved the day!! We knew we were wanting to camp but weren’t sure where to go, what places were like, and what would best meet out needs. NOT ONLY did Hip Camp have a map of campsites directly in the path of totality, they have reviews on each site and easy online booking. It’s like the Airbnb or VRBO of camping and I’m here for it!! We very quickly found a great spot that meets all our needs and were able to book and pay online quickly! I was thrilled!!!
Yesterday, Nathan and I solidified the list of things each of us are bringing, so I wanted to share a few of the things on my list that I love and that make my camping experience incredibly enjoyable.
I MUST have a good cup of coffee. Note the Smart Owl on the left.
My rechargeable headlamp. Yes, I said it, rechargeable!!! I love this thing and use it for so much more than camping! Honestly, I used it more while we were tearing down after gigs last year than I did camping. Even with all it’s use last year, I only had to charge it once!!
My power brick. This thing is fantastic!! It can charge my phone multiple time before it needs to be recharged itself and has been a lifesaver! Again, this is an item that has many many more functions in my life than just camping.
My single pour over & Smart Owl Coffee. Just because I’m camping, doesn’t mean I should drink crummy coffee. I’m a coffee lover and so is my partner. Having GOOD morning coffee is part of our daily ritual and something we LOVE doing together. Smart Owl is easily my favorite brand of coffee!! My rapid boil camping stove. Remember how I just said coffee is important. This little camping stove makes my morning coffee a breeze!! I would not camp without this. Ever.
An inflatable sleeping pad. I’m getting older and my body does not appreciate laying on the cold hard ground all night. I tried using a thicker yoga mat last fall and that definitely did not cut it. A sleeping pad has become a must!!
And my newest addition, an inflatable lounger. I love looking up at the stars, taking a nap in the sun, and just relaxing when I travel. I want to be able to do so comfortably. Remember how I just said, I’m getting older. Well, it’s true. So I’m investing in the things that make me happy and comfortable! I cannot wait to use this guy!!
